“Puerpericultura” do ventre e do sexo – orientações contraceptivas no início do século XX

Abstract

This article analyses the publication “Anticoncepção”, edited in 1936 in Rio de Janeiro and that aims at demonstrating the preoccupation and the early efforts of Medicine professionals for the communication of guidance and anti-conception in Brazil. The work is part of the set of efforts, not necessarily articulated, considered by European doctors and managers during the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, for the guidance of female-maternal conducts, conceiving the its importance for the Public Health scope, which ends up coming to Brazil. The analysis suggested herein reinforces the importance of such kind of publication also in the development of guidance for the female conduct that go beyond puericulture. The speech observed in the publication shows the conceptual and ideological preoccupations that marked the period, demonstrating the worry in providing wisdom and practices for sexual and contraception conducts targeting the sexual well being of the married couple and the health of the womanmother, by delaying serial impregnation as a discourse of the “puerpericulture” driven to the medical professionals as well as to the current social elite.
