O envelhecimento ativo no SUS: comunicação e produção de (não)sentidos em usuárias idosas de uma UBS

Abstract

Deals about a reflection, considering the communication/warning in the hallways of a Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS - Basic Health Unit) as the paradigm of a communication that is (not) established between a health unit and its users. The warning sign refers to the spreading of group
activities for elders that is offered in the UBS, located within São Paulo suburbs. We discussed the process of information circulation or not, of cultural meanings and the inequality in the access to information, as from the evidencing that the population which the group is destined to, does not take part. The logic followed drives us to believe that the UBS reproduces and maintains circulating a symbolic, hegemonic and meaningless capital for certain social segments that are historically in disadvantage. Somehow the communication and the information circulation processes end up favoring certain social segments and excluding others that cannot spread the meanings related to its needs and aspirations. We registered some clues for overcoming the situation and emphasized the need of refuting the idea that with the age progress the social cultural
differences that marked all the previous stages of life to automatically dissipate.
