Abstract
The war on drugs has been shown to be completely unable to contain the consumption and the social and health consequences of the use of drugs. Among the options that has taken shape and gaining more and more space, is the Public Health driven Harm Reduction. This paper shows the success story of the Harm Reduction Policy in Brazil and in the world, not only from the perspective of the HIV/AIDS control, but mainly as a humanitarian and tolerant public policy that accepts the diversity of the humanity.
