Abstract
This paper states the study produced in a Brazilian municipality named Guarujá, which implanted health mental actions in basic care. From the perspective of the concerning about the great amount of guiding patients from basic health unities to psychiatric appointments in specialized attention, a study was proposed to understand the reasons for these guiding and to search alternatives of care in basic health unities with its own resources. The result showed a significant resolution in basic attention e a reduction in guiding patients to specialized attention, which represents an important milestone in increasing Guarujá’s mental health network, assuring to the population access and quality care in basic attention.
