Abstract

The STD, AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Nacional Department carried out the Aknowlegde, Atitude and Practice Research in three steps. However, the results cannot be broken down to the municipalities. In the town of São Paulo (SP), where live most of people who have HIV in Brazil, the Health Municipality Secretary carried out the Research to know better our reality and to plan health actions. A sample was calculated with a sampling stratified planning in five health region in SP, gender and age. From November/2013 to march/2014, 4,318 interviews were carried out in household surveys with people living in SP, aging from 15 to 64. The main results show that 97% of the interviewed people consider the condom the best of prevention, 47% did not have access to condoms last year, 39% wore it in their first sexual intercourse, 52% of people aging from 15 to 24 had the first sexual intercourse before they were 15 years old. The test coverage was 35%, and 50% did not know where they could do the free test for HIV. The Research is a instrument to redefine the actions to face epidemic, increasing the unlimited access to prevention input and to testing.
