Abstract

Food and nutrition are requirements essential for the promotion and protection of health. The finding of this evidence collaborated for the approval, in 1999, of the National Policy of Food and Nutrition (PNAN), a set of policies that proposes actions for the Health sector, becoming a political instrument fundamental to the planning and operationalization of Food and Nutrition Security as a human right (SECRETARIAT OF HEALTH POLICIES, 2000; BRAZIL, 2003). However, managers and health professionals need to seize
this instrument to who know their responsibilities and feel responsible to implement this practice in the system of health.
