Abstract
Birth is a natural and physiological phenomenon and constitutes a unique moment, marked by a deep meaning for the woman and the baby. In the mid-twentieth century, the transition from childbirth to home for hospital delivery and, with that, there was the incorporation of new technologies and a large number of interventions in this process (in most cases sometimes unnecessary),inspired by a paradigm assistance that privileges technology and impersonality. In relation to childbirth, this type of conception
led to a significant and unjustifiable increase in the rates of cesarean With regard to the newborn, this paradigm resulted in the
separation of mothers and babies after birth, a series of interventions (such as upper airway aspiration, which has become “routine”
in many services) and food of babies with artificial milk.
