Abstract
Until the middle of the last century, women were accompanied by others during childbirth in the most societiesand cultures. However, the forms monitoring have varied according to the context social and historical, being
modulated from different cultural values. It was only with the advent of hospital birth that the woman began to be
separated from her environment and her loved ones loved ones during this event. In this environment, many women
began to associate the experience of childbirth with the feeling of isolation and abandonment. Various surveys
indicate that the absence of emotional support interferes with in the physiology of childbirth.
