Abstract
Step 10 of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) establishes the need for referral of the mother afterdischarge from the maternity hospital to support groups to breastfeeding. Ideally, hospitals should maintain
contact with mothers' groups and encourage the formation of these groups where they do not yet exist. it is known that many women find it difficult to breastfeed in the first days postpartum, being very important to have easily
accessible support locations after discharge from maternity.
