The implementation of the social name as a tool for humanization in health services : xperience of the Specialty Medical Ambulatory of São José do Rio Preto and of João Paulo Il State Hospital

Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate the steps developed in the process of implementing the social name in the Specialty Medical
Outpatient Clinic of São José do Rio Preto and of the Hospital Estadual João Paulo I, located in the municipality of São José do Rio
Preto, state of São Paulo. The Humanization sector was responsible for the implementation, but it would never have been possible
without the full support of the Administration, IT team and all the professionals who realized the true importance that this achievement represents for the LGBT population. The use of the social name is a guaranteed right and it emerges as a tool for the realization of reception, humanization and comprehensiveness of care for transvestites and transsexuals. Thus, we emphasize the need for awareness of professionals, striving for respect for the singularity of subjects and fighting all forms of regulation that imply processes of exclusion and discrimination.
