Butantan and SUS: a story of struggle at the service of the lives of all Brazilians

Abstract

In Brazil, it doesn't matter who you are, how much money you have in the bank or how serious your condition is physical: you will receive free medical care and time you need. This is only possible because we have with SUS, our Unified Health System, the largest public health program in the world and international reference in public policy. He was born in 1988, along with our Citizen Constitution, and reached majority, expression and capillarity over 35 years.I During the Covid-19 pandemic, it showed its full power. It was thanks to him that we were able to face the SARS-CoV-2 with the main defense we have to date against this deadly virus, the vaccine, and with the work dedicated team of hundreds of thousands of professionals health. Other examples of efficiency and effectiveness are organ transplant queue in Brazil, another initiative of the SUS, which has the most advanced medicine available in the world, and the program to combat another pandemic, HIV and AIDS. There are two important examples among many.
