Abstract
Upon completing 35 years, the Unified Health System became the largest and longest-lasting public social policy from Brazil. And it can celebrate important advances in expanding the population’s access to actions and services healthcare, whether in primary care or in that of greater complexity. However, numerous challenges and prioritiesremain so that the SUS fully achieves its goals universal, comprehensive and equitable care for Brazilians.
Facing them, therefore, is essential for the continued advancement of the system.
