Abstract

When invited to contribute a text to the Bulletin of the Institute of Health (BIS) commemorating the 35 years of the Unified Health System (SUS), promptly I accepted, feeling honored with the opportunity to deal with a topic as vast and complex as the SUS and your 35 years – a time that almost totals my life professional as a sanitary doctor at the Secretariats of Health in the state and municipality of São Paulo. I chose to share some moments with readers of this story that I consider relevant to the birth, growth and
development of the SUS in São Paulo, as well as my wishes for your future.
