Unified Health System – present, past and future

Abstract

The Unified Health System is completing 35 years since its creation. Along this route, much progress has been made,
but great challenges for its completeness will still have to be supplanted. The SUS was and is the public policy
for social inclusion most effective that the health sector has had in these Last times. It was the result of a pact effective policy in which several actors were involved social, with relevant community participation in
decision-making bodies. Different strategies were implemented for its development, demanding the conciliation
of legitimate interests, but sometimes contradictory.
