The Research Program for the Unified Health System (SUS) as an inducer of partnerships between health management and universities in the processes of Permanent Health Education

Abstract

The article discusses the learning process and the partnership between health management and universities through the Research Program for the Unified Health System of the state of São Paulo (PPSUS-SP). This initiative paves the way for researchers from universities and health services to develop joint projects and fulfill their social purpose of generating knowledge to address everyday challenges in training for the SUS, as well as in management and care. Considering Permanent Health Education as a learning process that occurs through and within work, and developed through the integration of education and service, a partnership has been built among the Regional Health Department of Araraquara, the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing of the University of  São Paulo, and the Department of Nursing of the Federal University of São Carlos. A rich process of continuous education has taken place among all parties involved. Emphasis is placed on the joint development of research projects, the sharing of theoretical and methodological frameworks, and scientific articles. It is concluded that the PPSUS initiative holds a potent capacity to challenge traditional roles in research production, displacing academia from its place of exclusive knowledge and health services from their place of sole practice, inviting both to co-create knowledge and practices.
