Abstract
This qualitative and exploratory study investigated how people with suicidal behavior are taken care in the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) of Curitiba. In the introduction, the research addresses the significant increase in suicide rates in Brazil in contrast to the global trend of reduction, problematizing different approaches to care. The methodology used was open interviews with professionals and users of health services, inserted in Psychosocial Care Centers and Basic Health Units in Curitiba. All data obtained were fully transcribed and analyzed using Gadamer's hermeneutics as a reference. The results revealed the importance of establishing bonds between users and health professionals for maintaining follow up. In addition, the use of medication appeared to be a great tool on the part of professionals, the lack of inclusion of the person in decisions about their care and little consideration of their surroundings. In conclusion, such strategies centered on bonding are important to avoid the medicalizing logic that permeates health care today, but they are also insufficient when considering their social dimension.
