The cinema, the indigenous image and the scietific expeditions - the case of König Amazonas

Abstract

The film König Amazonas is reconstructed theoretically to highlight the way as it reproduces characteristics of a colonial aesthetic, that represents
the indigenous peoples from European iconographic and literary traditions. A paradigmatic example, the film condenses a series of stereotypes and conventions recognized in other media, building between the ethnographic record and the look that tends to the picturesque.
