Memory of health in São Paulo: Historical-Cultural Center for Iberian American Nursing

Abstract

This is a debate on health historical memory preservation in São Paulo, conformed by the existing Archives in the Historical Cultural Center for Iberian AmericanNursing. It is intended at highlighting the informative potential of the existing historical records as well as of the trajectory of such a space created in 1992 by the University of São Paulo, School of Nursing as training and guiding tool for future professionals. The proposed perspective aims at characterizing the relevant documental set and inserting it within the scope of the applied sciences institutionalization, particularly in the State of São Paulo, showing the nexus that the Nursing School has established in its historicity with the Medical School and the Public Health School, both at the University of São Paulo. Discussions reached in the debate have indicated for a work needed for recovering and preservation of the historical records which report the development of the public health and its actors.
