Abstract
In the Brazilian Health System (SUS), there is a small number of users who can afford Enteral Nutrition (NE), although the provision of special nutritional formulas should provide by the Brazilian public health policies, assuring the user the right to access. Currently, there is a large diversity of industrialized formulas in the market, whether the basis of modules or nutritionally complete diet, however, become costly when administered indefinitely or for a long period. In an attempt to solve this demand, the Municipal Secretariat of São José do Rio Preto carried out a work with the objective of elaborating and determining the physicochemical characteristics of a formula made with easily purchased and inexpensive ingredients and that can be prepared in facilitating the administration of NE and favoring the nutritional needs of the network patients submitted to this type of nutritional therapy. This work was of great relevance to the municipal public service, as it was verified the viability and safety of the formulation offer from a physical-chemical point of view and nutritional composition, and took into consideration the low financial cost of the formulation.
