Abstract
In preparing this text, we started from the quote above and from the following premises: 1) a healthy diet is adetermining factor in improving the quality of life; 2) the school is a privileged space for the promotion of health,
in terms of improving the food quality of students. The National Curriculum Parameters (PCN's) - official documents
that have been guiding, since the late 1990s, the pedagogical proposals of schools, in their Transversal Theme
"Health" - define as,In this area, the “identification of food available in the community and its nutritional value”
and “the appreciation of adequate food as an essential factor for growth and development, as well as for the prevention
of diseases, such as malnutrition, anemia or caries” (BRAZIL , 1997). These documents express the relationship
between issues related to the quality of food and the role of the school as a privileged space for the acquisition
of knowledge related to this topic and for the development of healthy habits related to food.
