Abstract

This article aims to reflect on What changed between the 1991 and 1991 demographic censuses 2001 , including some
references to the Research National Survey by Household Sampling 19982 - PNAD Health - and the Medical-Health Care
Research 1993 , raising questions about the determination of the health-disease process and the trajectory of the
SUS in this last decade. The average annual growth rate in the period 1991- 2000, of only 1.63%, indicates the
continuation of the decline of fertility in the 1990s. The average number of people per family decreased to 3.5 people
– urban and rural. Households with up to two residents per dormitory represented, in 1991, 62.9%, and in 2000 this
number increases to 72.8%; also increased the number of families under female responsibility, to 12.8 million.
