Abstract
Recent social changes – brought about by the rapid scientific-technological advance, by globalization and internationalization ofthe economy and the growing migration of the rural population to urban areas – while offering, for the well-being of people, cutting-edge technologies and accessibility to knowledge, have perverse consequences, such as the increase in the
group of excluded people and intolerance in relation to the different ones (Filomeno, 2004a).
