Abstract

The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), launched in 1992 by the World Health Organization (WHO) in conjunction with the United Nations Fund for Childhood (UNICEF), is an important strategy for promote
the adoption of practices that facilitate the breastfeeding in maternity hospitals. Appropriate practices are presented in the Ten Steps to Success in Breast-feeding.
