Abstract

Presence of soluble immune complexes (IC) was observed in sera of Virchowian hanseniasis patients; some of these patients presented active erythema nodosum. These IC were detected by their reactivity with the C,q component of the complement. The IC were previously precipitated by polyethylene-glycol (PEG) and dissolved in borate buffer. The presence of IC was confirmed by reduction with 2-mercapto-ethanol and alqullation with 2 iodoacetamide followed by new C,q reactions and no precipitin lines were obtained.
