Abstract

 Instituto Adolfo Lutz (IAL) – Central Laboratory of Public Health (Lacen) has been recognized as state reference laboratory for HIV/Aids diagnosis, one of the tasks of the institution to promote and implement quality assurance programs to the public laboratories and those partaking in the Brazilian Unifed Health System. Since 2009, Immunology Center of IAL began the production and distribution of reference material (RM) to prepare of HIV internal quality control (IQC HIV) by laboratories of the sub‑network of São Paulo State, enrolled in the Internal Quality Control Program coordinated by IAL. Now, he prepares to implement the External Quality assessment on HIV testing Program (EAQ HIV) in order to evaluate the performance of the quality of participating laboratory performance. The Program EAQ HIV proposes voluntary and no charge to laboratories that assessing HIV testing, ensuring impartiality and confidentiality. At first, between 2014 and 2015, invited laboratories (n = 19) are included. From 2016, the participation will be open to the public laboratories and those partaking in the Brazilian Unifed Health System of São Paulo State.
