Abstract

Adhesion to the Hospital Infection Surveillance System in the State of São Paulo shows atendency to increase, already noticed in previous years, which has been maintained in 2007Beyond that, the consolidation of this System is perceivable, allowing the comparison of hospitainfection rates (IH) within each hospital, with a consolidation of IH rates for the State. Thedevelopment of a system to monitor selected infections is a responsibility of Health authoritiesThe Hospital Infection Surveillance System of the State of São Paulo is fulfilling this obligationand has proved to be a totally new governing surveillance system.
