Abstract

Samples of tornato paste, tomato puree and catchup were examined for higienic conditions by microscopy. Ali samples were tested by using trap flask method. It was found that 61,20/0of the tomato paste samples, 58,1% of the puree samples, and 61,8% of the catchup samples had unsatisfatory sanitary conditions for insect fragments. It was suggested that the Brazilian Alimentary Codex be modified to tolerate a minimum rate of insect fragments.
