Abstract

Introduction: Covid-19 pandemic represents a global challenge when it comes to containing transmission through individual preventive health measures. Thus, it is extremely important to analyze the scenario of adherence to such measures in order to reduce the progression of the number of deaths and infections by the new coronavirus. Objectives: To analyze the levels of adherence to individual health measures in Brazil, during 6 months after its publicity on March 16, 2020, and to correlate the data obtained with individual behavior and its impact on society. Material and Methods: Using a cross-sectional descriptive study and a brief questionnaire, transmitted digitally, it was evaluated how the Brazilian population behaved in the initial months of the pandemic in question in view of the individual recommendations implemented. Results: It was found that 90,0% of respondents live with other people at home, 54,5% reported not wearing a face mask when leaving home and 29,4% of respondents reported having some additional disease that is a risk factor for new coronavirus. Discussion: Collective home environment was observed, possibly enhancing the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Factors such as routine loss of routine and physical, economic and mental health become obstacles in relation to adherence to individual health measures. There was also low adherence to the use of face masks by Brazilians. Conclusion: The study found that geographic, social, economic, psychological, physical and nutritional factors are related to adherence or not to individual long-term health measures, despite good indicators, in general, during the first 6 months in Brazil.
