Abstract
Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of individuals with skin cancer, treated from 2005 to 2012, at the Dermatology Department of the Instituto Lauro de Souza Lima (ILSL), located in Bauru city. Methods: Descriptive study, which data were obtained from medical records. Results: A total of 774 new patients were attended, being 391 (50.5%) male and 383 (49.5%) female. The average age of affected individuals was 67 years old, with high prevalence of white people (94.2%). The most frequent clinical manifestation was basal cell carcinoma (83.2%), and in the most of them the tumor was located in the head region (54.7%). Concerning the professional occupations of these patients, the majority exert the activities related to domestic works (31.5%). Conclusion: These data are consistent with those found in the literature and, they emphasize the need for awareness and optimization of actions towards the sun protection, and also to incentive for conducting the future comparative studies.
