Abstract

In a patch obtained from NDVI (Normal Difference Vegetation Index) cases of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL) were located in Hypolito Yrigoyen (HY), in the province of Salta, Argentina, in order to discriminate urban cases (infections due to activities like hunting and fishing during times of leisure) from those observed in the rural regions (during their labor activities), with the objective of identifying possible transmission sites. Once identified the urban cases, a simple matrix of cases was constructed, with the cases per zone for each year, in HY, drawing the contour lines to describe the spatial case distribution of LTA cases. Results show that, in 2005, an important transmission focus was registered in the Southeast zone and another, less important, in the Northwestern zone, both having moved to the Southeast region and to the central region of HY in 2006. Spatial distribution of urban cases during the period shows that there is a risk of acquiring the disease in the sites under study.
