Abstract

On the basis of the studies carried through in the period of 1993 the 2003, during the ecoepidemiológica monitoring of hantavírus in regions of Atlantic Rainforest and Cerrado of Brazil, prevalence is told to it and the factors related to the infection for hantavírus Araraquara and Juquitiba in the populations of Bolomys lasiurus and Oligoryzomys nigripes, respectively. Monthly captures of rodents had been carried through, in diverse Brazil http://www.cve.saude.sp.gov.br/agencia/bepa42_virus.htm (1 de 19)11/7/2007 07:50:06 :: BEPA - Boletim Epidemiológico Paulista :: localities, where human cases of Cardiopulmonar Syndrome had been detected for Hantavírus. Samples of blood had been collected, for serology and detention of specific antibodies for hantavírus and were gotten of each referring rodent, data to the species, weight, age, sex, reproductive conditions and the presence of scars. The nominal qualitative variable had been organized in “software” of electronic spread sheet and analyzed by the test of the qui-square, being chosen the level of significance of 5% as criterion. The results respectively show for the high prevalence observed in Bolomys lasiurus and Oligoryzomys nigripes that these species act as reservoir in the Cerrado and Atlantic Rainforest. It is observed that the ecological dynamics intimately is related with the transmission and maintenance of hantavírus in the nature, being clearly that the reproductive activity is what more influences the occurrence of seropositive rodents with scars, had to the fight for breeding. The prevalence of hantavírus in rodents revealed associated the factors of age and sex, being more common in the rodents adult and discrete more frequent in the male rodents. The seasonality the infection in accordance with varies the species of rodent reservoir, being that for the Bolomys lasiurus the peak of the infection occurs in the winter and for Oligoryzomys nigripes the same occurs in the spring. One also perceived that the prevalence of the infection for hantavírus between rodents was bigger in the Cerrado what in Atlantic Rainforest, and the seasonality of this prevalence determined peaks in the spring for Atlantic Rainforest and in the winter for the Cerrado.
