Abstract
Taking into account the hypothesis that there are social differences according to race/color and that these differences are translated in inequity and vulnerabil-ity, a study was performed to estimate prevalence of risk factors for brain and vascular diseases, according to race/color. A probabilistic sample was analyzed, comprising 2.103 persons in age brackets varying from 15 to 59 years of age, obtained by a cross section study named “Monitoring exposition for a disease subgroup in the city of São Paulo”, performed by the Division of Diseases and Non-transmittable grievances. The analysis did not disclose relevant differences regarding risk factors for cardiovascular diseases when color is considered nevertheless, the study shows there is little knowledge regarding grievances according to race/color.
