Abstract
Objective: to update the geographic distribution of mollusk species of the genera Biomphalaria, Galba and Pseudosuccinea, which are intermediate hosts of S. mansoni and F. hepatica in the municipalities of the State of São Paulo. Methods: occurrence records were gathered from databases and specialized literature, followed by management and mapping using geographic coordinates
of the headquarters of 645 municipalities. Results: data on the occurrences of B. glabrata, B. tenagophila, B. straminea, G. cubensis, and P. columella, which are intermediate hosts of S. mansoni and F. hepatica, in the municipalities of São Paulo were obtained, and geographic distribution maps were prepared. Conclusions: the data indicate that species related to the environmental transmission of schistosomiasis and fasciolosis are frequent in municipalities across all regions of the state, highlighting the need for ongoing programs aimed at epidemiological control and surveillance.
