Peer Review Process

Works published in BEPA undergo a peer review process, carried out by experts on  the subject of the submitted manuscripts. The editorial team carries out an initial  analysis, and works that do not meet the journal's standards, as well as the submission  rules, are returned to the authors for adjustment and new submission.

Once the standards are met, original and systematic review/meta-analysis articles  are sent to two referees, always from institutions other than the one from which  the articles originated, to begin the double-blind evaluation procedure of the manuscripts. Reviewers fill out the standard form with predetermined options, which includes an open field for justifying the final decision, whether accepting, rejecting, recommending corrections, or adjustments.

After receiving the opinions, the editors, who have the final decision on whether  or not to publish the works, evaluate the approval of the articles, approval with  necessary modifications or disapproval.

If approved, after the textual review, the proof of the layout version is sent to  the author responsible for the final review of the layout (no changes to the content  may occur at this stage), who must respond within 15 days. At the end of this period,  even without a response from the author, the manuscript will be considered approved  for publication.

Average time for publication: 90 days.
