Resumo
Os autores registram a ocorrência de leptospirose por Leptospira wolffii em dois pacientes, com isolamento da L. wolffií no líquido cefalorraquidiano de um deles. Procedendo a estudos epidemiológicos no local em que residia um dos pacientes (Vila Iracema Rosa e adjacências - sede do Hôrto Florestal de São Paulo, Brasil), efetuaram inquéritos sorológicos entre 150 pessoas, encontrando 6 com evidência sorológica de infecção pregressa por L. wolffii. Apresentam inquérito sorológico entre animais capturados nesses locais. Foi isolada L. wolffii dos rins de um exemplar de Akodon arviculoides e de outro roedor não identificado; esta é a primeira vez em que a L. wolffii é isolada no continente americano, segundo continente em que é registrada, sendo o primeiro, a Ásia; pela segunda vez é isolada de roedores silvestre.
