Abstract
The occurrence of two cases of leptospirosis due to Leptospira wolffii, with the isolation of this organism from spinal fluid in one case is reported. Six out of 150 sera from individuals living in the same area gave positive agglutination tests for L. wolffii. Serological examination results of animals caught in the area are presented. Leptospira wolffii was isolated from the kidneys of one specimen of Akodon arviculoides and from one non-identified rodent; this is the first isolation of L. wolffii registered in the American continent.
