DEIA Principles and Use of Inclusive Language

RIAL supports the adoption of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) principles, recommending the use of the SAGER Guidelines (Sex and Gender Equity in Research), which correspond to a set of recommendations for reporting information on sex and gender in the study, data analysis, results, and interpretation of scientific research results intended to guide authors in the design and preparation of their manuscripts. See also: Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) Guidelines Checklist.

RIAL advocates the use of inclusive language, recognizing diversity and respect for all individuals in ensuring more equitable opportunities, gradually eliminating and transforming the application of words and expressions that may be considered discriminatory and stigmatizing towards socially underrepresented, unprotected, or vulnerable individuals, groups, or communities to stereotypes, perceptions, and negative attributions. To this end, the reading and use of the Guide for the Use of Inclusive Language is recommended.
