Abstract

A multi-residue analysis methodology was validated for determinining the organophosphorus compounds chlorfenvinphos, chlorpyrifos, dichlorvos, dimethoate, ethion, ethoprophos, parathion-methyl and pirimiphos-methyl in lettuce, banana and tomato samples by using gas chromatography using thermionic specific detection. Experiments using solvent and matrix-matched calibration curves, blanks and spiked samples were performed. The methodology linearity ranged from 12 to 92 ng.mL-1. Matrix effect was proved to the majority of the investigated analytes and matrices, excepting dimethoate in lettuce and chorpyrifos in banana. The recovery averages, at the quantification range, varied from 81 to 104 %. The technique showed the acceptable precision with relative standard deviations under repetitivity conditions from 4.7 to 14.3 %, and the intermediary precision from 5.7 to 21.4 %. The detection and quantification limits were 5.0 μg.kg-1 and 8.0 μg.kg-1, respectively. Decision limits from 6.7 to 5.2 mg.kg-1 and detection capabilities from 11.3 to 5.5 mg.kg-1 were estimated. Of 309 analyzed samples, collected from the state of Minas Gerais, 18.4 % showed organophosphorus residues, being 17.2 % in disagreement with legislation in force.
