Abstract

The present short communication proposes to point out some spectral interferences on nitrate determination in water by means of UV spectrophotometry methods. Two techniques were analysed: the first technique employed absorbance value at 220 nm (with empirical correction in presence of organic material),and for the second one the absorbance value at 205 nm (without any correction factor) was used for reaction reading. Based on the second technique an interference study on chloride ion was performed. Chloride interference was noted at concentrations above 50 mg L-1 approximately. Additionally, some interferences activities from nitrite and surfactants were shallowly investigated.
