Abstract

The authors studied 14 races labelled as Sh. dispar and could'nt find any biochemical evidence allowing theirs separation in groups. By agglutination test, however, they suceeded in dividing them in two distinct serological groups, each one being homogeneous. Studying the antigenic relations with others germs of the genus Shigella, they noticed a great resemblance with the species Sh. alkalescens; one of the groups studied, was serologically identical with some species of Sh. alkalescens.
