Abstract
The authors have studied the existing relationship between the endocrinological background and the infections; staphylococcal infection was chosen for this study. A comparative study was made, in laboratory animals, on the relative efficiency of penicillin and of staphylococcal toxoid as therapeutic agents. The authors' conclusions are in favor of the latter; this is probably due to the fact that the toxoid acts primarily upon the organism enhancing its defenses against the invading microorganism. A review on Selye's adaptation syndrome demonstrated the importance of the adrenals and, consequently, of the endocrine constitution in infections. They conclude with a review of the therapeutical methods used in infections, taking account of the endocrinological point of view.
