Abstract

Penicillin was administered to two groups of patients either neuroluetics or not, which received by parenteral route, dosages of crystalline penicillin G, that varied from 200,000 to 1.000.000 i. u. There were studied thirteen patients. The Fleming's biological method was employed m the dosages of penicillin.

1 - Dosages of penicillin were found in the liquor of neuroluetics, with the administration of 200,000 i.u. of crystalline penicillin G, by intramuscular or intravenous routes. 2 - The decrease of the renal permeability, delaying the penicillin elimination, keeps higher and more lasting liquor and blood levels. 3 - Rapid antecedence is verified in .the penicillin appearing in the suboccipital liquor relationed to the lumbar one, when500.000 i.u. of crystalline penicillin G are injected either intramuscularly or intravenously. 4 - On the practical point of view, there is no difference in the swiftness of the penicillin appearing in the liquor, injected either intramuscularly or intravenously. Penicillin already appears in the liquor, 20 minutes after the intramuscular or intravenous injections of 500,000 i. u. of crystalline penicillin G dissolved in 1 or 2 ml of distilled water. 5 - The penicillin permanence in the liquor, injected intramuscularly, is significatively more lasting than when injected intravenously. 6 - 500,000 i.u. of crystalline penicillin G, injected intramuscularly, and dissolved in 1 or 2 ml of distilled water gave, at least, in neuroluetics, liquorical levels of 0.06 u. per ml, during 4 hours and blood levels of 0.24 u. per ml for 6 hours. 7 - 1,000,000 i. u. of crystalline penicillin G administered intramuscularly to two patients not neuroluetics, and dissolved in 3 ml of distilled water, accused relatively a little higher liquorical level than with the administration of 500.000 i.u. in other patients also not neuroluetics.
