Abstract

By two processes of quantitative determination of a mixture of antipyrine, aminopyrine, phenacetin, acetylparaminosalol, and 2-phenylquinolinecarboxylic acid, are isolated successively, in the same portion taken for the assay: a) the 2-phenylquinoline-4-carboxylicacid by extraction with chloroform of the remaining components, in alkaline medium; b) the aminopyrine by extraction with chloroform of the remaining components, in acid medium; c) the antipyrine by its solubility in water and formation of silicotungstate which is insoluble in water; d) the phenacetin by extraction with chloroform, after the alkaline hydrolysis of acetylparaminosalol. This was calculated by the weight of salicylic acid formed by its alkaline hydrolysis and extracted after the exhaustion of phenacetin. In the second process, the acetylparaminosalol is separated from the phenacetine by the extraction with chloroform, after the acid hydrolysis of phenacetin. The resultant phenetidin of this hydrolysis is in such way extracted with ethylic ether in alkaline medium and by other acetylation, the phenacetin is reformed.
