Abstract

Two species, Xiphinema americanum and Xiphinema ensiculiferum are reported in São Paulo (Capital). The former was collected in the soil of the garden of "Faculdade de Medicina de São Paulo". A full description of this species showed that it is of the same size as that of the United States and larger than that of Ceylon. Xiphinema ensiculiferum was collected from around roots of an ornamental plant growing in a pot; however, no information for its identification has been obtained, The description of this species agrees with that found in Ceylon except in some variations of the tail end of females and larvae. The larvae have not a digitate terminus as that of Ceylon, but a conoid one; and the female has a round terminus while that of Ceylon has a less rounded one.
