Abstract
A case of pneumocystic pneumonia is presented and a review of pertinent literature is made particularly of Chagas's work. The clinical findings in this case are described and the histopathology of the lung is discussed. Considerations are made on the taxonomy and identifications of Pneumocystis carinii, and inclusion of pneumonia due to this protozoon among plasmocystic intersticial pneumonia is suggested.
