Abstract
We have analysed leaves of Ocimum micranthum Willd (manjericão) about its anatomic and chemical characteristics. Those characteristics included the presence of the tector and one glandular hair, diacitic stomas on both epidermis as well as collateral vascular bundles. The chemical analysis revealed the presence of 1,8-cineol, camphor, eugenol and sesquiterpenes in its essential oil. More than 50% ofthe whole terpenes present in the leaves of these vegetables in Brazilian soil are monoterpenes. Other studies showed that these relative percentages are inversed in plantes of the Peruvian soil.
