Abstract

One hundred and thirteen samples of chicken fat from Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina states were monitored for organochlorine pesticide residues during 1988-1991 years. Levels of total HCH were detected in 46,9%., HCB in 3,5%, Dieldrin in 43,3% and total DDT in 26,5% of the samples. Results were lower than permitted levels according to Agriculture Ministry Norms and Codex Alimentarius, except for three samples with dieldrin. The medians of HCB, total HCH, Dieldrin and total DDT had a decreasing trend or remained stable during that period.
