Abstract

The frequency of multiple enteric infections by members of Emi erobcusteriaceae was investigated in São Paulo county, sta te of São Paulo, Brasil, from 1977 to 1982. During this pe riod, multiple enteric infections accounted for 10.32% of the fecal specimens positiva for Erderobcoteriaceae, This frequency corresponds to 526 samples wi th double infection and 20 with triple infection. The combination Salmonella typhimu1'ium plus Escherichia coli 0111: K58 was the most frequent and the more affected age group was O to 6 months of age which includes 64% of the multiple infections.
