Abstract

A method for quantification of DL-lysine monochloride in pharmaceuticals and dietetics products without previous extraction was proposed. Other substances as buclizine hydrochloride, vitamin A, D and Bcomplex, tryptophan, glutamic acid, betaine hydrochloride, when presented in such products, did not interfere in this reaction. In this method, lysine reacts with sodium tetraborate and sodium nitroprussiate, producing a colored compound, which exhibits maximum absorption at the wavelength at about 545nm.
