Abstract
Dieldrin levels were investigated in 18 farm workers exposed to aldrin. Markedly elevated blood concentrations (mean= 0.49 ppm; standard deviation= 0.36jLg/ml) were observed. These values are higher than those found in people with clinica! manifestations of intoxication by dieldrin. No correlation between levels of dieldrin and variables such as duration of exposure, rate of application and time interval between exposure and blood sarnpling was detected. The high levels of contamination apparently resulted from the carelessness of the operators. It is advised that farm workers be warned about the danger and tha t official agencies take more effective measures and a better policy in these aspects.
